The course addresses the problematics associated with the typology of Matte Housing, through a dissection of the parameters inherent to such built forms. The goal is to formulate design methodologies using syntactic relations as control points that allow for the breeding of multiple families of alternatives within a pre-fixed set of constraints.
The elective will begin by learning the basic principles of parametric modeling, thereby obtaining an appreciation of their potential as generators of variances. Pre-selected projects will form the basis of an early investigation, from which geometric / relational / cultural / social rules will be extracted and serve as the basis of the ordering logic required for the assemblage of the structural armature necessary for a parametric set-up.
The findings of the course shall be actualized as a dossier, to be utilized as a catalogue for reference / further investigation.
